Jonathan Spector is a playwright based in Oakland, California. His plays include Eureka Day (NY Times Critics’ Pick, Glickman Award, Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Award, Theater Bay Area Award, Rella Lossy Award), This Much I Know, Good. Better. Best. Bested., Siesta Key, and What Comes Next, among others. His plays have been produced at Colt Coeur, Aurora Theater, Mosaic Theater, InterAct Theater, Spreckles Theater, Custom Made Theater, Mugwumpin, The State Theater of South Australia (upcoming) and Just Theater, where he is Co-Artistic Director. His work has been developed at Berkeley Rep, South Coast Rep, Roundabout Theater, New Harmony Project, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Portland Stage, Crowded Fire, Playwrights Center, SF PlayGround, and SF Playhouse. He’s a Core Writer at Playwrights Center and has been a MacDowell Colony Fellow, an Ithaca College New Voices Fellow, a Playwrights Foundation Resident Playwright, and a recipient of South Coast Rep’s Elizabeth George Commission.
